Dear Parents and Guardians:
Greetings from the Principal's desk. This is Mr. Shore, Principal at Melrose Elementary School alongside Mrs. Cobb, Assistant Principal! We are truly excited to be heading into our third year with the Melrose School and community.
The time has arrived to start preparing for what is going to be a very productive 2025-26 school year!
We are coming off a successful 24-25 school year with meaningful growth by our students with the highest scores in the district! We all should celebrate this!
We will continue with the 3 R's and the foundation for success at Melrose: To be Ready, Responsible, and Respectful.
A key to our overall instructional practices for students will be teaching them on Grade Level for our core subject areas with Engaging learning activities that are student-centered.
The Harrisburg School District's Dress Code for will remain the same as last year with one change.
As the summer winds down and you prepare your students for the upcoming school year, the Principals, Teachers, and Staff at Melrose Elementary School have all been working hard for you and your children this school year. I cannot express enough the importance of ATTENDANCE for all children.
Melrose had the best attendance in the district the past year at 92.6%. Let's KEEP it up!
There are two opportunities at Melrose prior to the start of the school year:
1. Open House & Back to School Night - Thursday, August 28th as follows:
4:30 - 5:30 PM - Back to School Night Info Session for ALL Kg - 5th Grade.
5:15 - 6:30 PM - Open House for KG- 5th
Free Backpacks to give away this night.
As we look forward to the return of all Melrose students on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, we want to commit to a positive school climate that is welcoming and safe for our students.
